Default New intercooler help needed

Ok guys , I have replaced my original cooler to a rs 500 style one, my question is ..
On orinal cooler it had a large outlet on top with a reducer to supply boost pressure to Amal valve, new cooler doesn't have outlet, should I take a new supply of the plenum , will this change boost settings, what's the best way to go...
Thanks

The amal valve is connected between the wastegate and actuator with a return to the airbox. The only interaction the valves have with the standard intercooler is being screwed to them they don't have any pipework connection to the amal valve.

Ok I thought the Amal valve recieved boost pressure and either diverted to actuator or airboxvent ,

Thats correct. On the amal valve C port is usually supplied from turbo compressor housing

W goes off to the wastegate actuator
R goes to the airbox or atmosphere.

Ok so my turbo isn't a factory unit and doesn't have a supply of the compressor housing and my new intercooler doesn't either, so does the supply need to come of plenum. ..?

From memory the only outlet on top of the original cooler is for the standard fitment dump valve is it not?

It is, but it's massive compared to the connections you'd use for an Amal valve?

The I/C has no connection physically, or otherwise to the solenoid.

I have never heard of that before, there should be an outlet off the compressor, I don't think the reference from the I/C, leave alone the plenum is a good idea, as the boost is not being controlled until is has actually reached this point.

Just checked my compressor housing doesn't have a the small outlet for the Amal valve, think that's why the old owner ran it of the old intercooler,
So just to check , what's my best option?
The other question is are after market boost controllers any good so you can manually adjust?

Regardless of what boost control you have, you should still take a feed from the compressor housing. I've seen compressor housings, drilled, tapped and with a takeoff fitted. That is what you should do.

Not really, regardless of what you have they all need the basic reference to operate.

Ok great think I will drill and tap the housing, thanks,
One last question I noticed when I fitted up new I/c how close it was to the radiator, only about one inch is normal, just thought there would be more of a gap to stop heat sink of rad,,?
Thanks guys.
