Arrow 044 pump and inlet fittings & pre pump filter?

My Saph has recently started to run lean, and suspicions are pointing towards to fuel supply. The pump looks original, and ancient, so going to upgrade to an 044 or equivalent.
Any recommendations for suppliers or alterative pumps?

Also I'm seeing that some places sell the pump without the Cosworth inlet pipe adapter. Would the original one from the car's regular fuel pump be the same?

Also looking to possibly fit a pre pump filter, as who knows what crap could be in the 25 year old tank... Any recommendations here too?
Edit: Did read one thread on here about the 044 not being able to suck through a filter when gravity fed? Any thoughts on this?

Genuine 044 pump has a filter gauze on the inlet.i just checked mine.
this is the kit i bought

from Matt Lewis, from previous experience you want to eliminate all possible problems, including the wiring loom as that can be just as bad as a failing pump. Ł205 for piece of mind

An gauze on the actual screw in part of the inlet?
Can't see anyone mentioning that in adverts, not even MSD who usually detail everything...

yes, where the adaptor screws in, look in there, theres a gauze in there. inside the pump itself.

Is it removable or can it be cleaned out at all?

dont think so no.how much crap do you think is in the tank?standard fuel filter will eradicate most of the crap.

No idea, but it's an old original tank... and the fuel pump comes before the filter, so not much help at protection there.

right, but the fuel system circulates doesnt it? and its just as easy to remove the inlet pipe and then tip the contents out of the pump as it is a removable filter?if youre THAT worried your tank is bad enough to require that then perhaps a new tank would be a better buy?any residue should only be from the fuel and tiny amounts from refuelling. you shouldnt have bits in the tank big enough to clog up a pump.

If you cannot remove the gauze (can't remember) you could take it out and flow fuel the wrong way through it to flush the filter and then blow out with an air line (apply safety precautions) but I would just replace the pump. All 044 do seem to have the gauze.

I've ordered a new 044 pump now, but still unsure if a pre pump filter should be fitted?

Obviously makes sense in theory, but in practice can an 044 pump draw fuel through a filter?
Does it not need a direct gravity feed, or a lift pump to overcome the filter which would be inbetween it and the tank?

Ade500, apart from all the fancy connections, do you basically just have a a pre pump filter added in-line to the original configuration? And that works ok?

If you look through the paperwork that comes with the pump I'm fairly sure they say it should have one , that's why I fitted one.

Worked fine, they do different micron filters to suit.

But cheaper here

Cool, got a filter ordered too now!
Will be running a wideband permanently from now on too, so can make sure everything is working ok!
