Default rs 500 oil filter blew almost up

Help help help,
I have just re serviced my cossie, we first had a problem with a seized oil pump and it broke the AUX drive gear and distributor gear, so we change it all up and yesterday started the engine, all was fine. Today went to set it up and after 4 seconds running the oil filter puffed up and spat oil all over, we changed the filter as had a doubt that maybe it was not on tight but then and again it puffed and oil was everywhere. This is making me go crazy, brand new cosworth racing high pressure pump so we are fazed what is going on, can anyone help ?
Thank you.

over 8 bar and your filter will blow up
and its better to use a genuine oil pump or a protech one
other high pressure shit is risky and unnecessary

Hi James thanks for the reply, that is exactly what we are thinking that happened also, but the oil pump is a brand new cosworth racing pump, check it out in the pick.

Take the pump out and throw it as hard as you can back at them.

They will give you a new pump, its up to you if you decide to fit it or not.
They wont have anything to do with paying for the labour, parts or time involved in fixing the car.

Well this is the second Cosworth racing pump , first was stiff and broke aux gear and dist. Gea now this has a Stück valve, no i think best is to Get in Touch with Cosworth, with the money i could have bought a dry sump. The thing is there are not any high quality pumps to buy.

You can use a 4x4 pump in an RS500 if you can find an original new one rather than these re manufactured ones with known problems.

I have a brand new original RS500 one in my spares, they do come up for sale every now and again as old stock items. I wont part with it sorry just in case I need one myself in the future.

A relief valve spring and cap kit is only Ł10 or so and simple to change but you should not need to do that really on a brand new item, but maybe its the only way you are going to get one that works, especially given how far away you are.

sorry to ask again but is this really a genuine one from the ford dealer?
words like high pressure and racing pump reminds me of aftermarket ones.
Even the cosworth aftermarket ones are not the same as the genuine ones in the past ex factory, if I'm informed correctly. But don't know if these have the "YB0852" label originally.

The rs 500 came out with a high pressure oil pump made by Burman, these pumps are definitely the best, mine ran for 26 years and my two cosworth racing pumps ran for one 500km and the other 10 min. The only difference suppose is that the cosworth racing is high capacity but to be honest the only thing happening is making my pocket low.
