Default Back in a Ford. '83 XR3i

Hey guys. Not been on here in a long while since I went to the VAG side for a while but to be honest I wasnt impressed so i've went back to Ford. I was going to get a mk2 golf GTI but who was i trying to kid? lol Ended up going to see this 6 months back, fell in love and bought it last weekend!
Fully restored body and engine. chopped up and welded back together rust free with a lot of rust proofing. original 1600cc engine too! Only thing needing done is the clutch cable. massive thanks to the previous owner who did all the work himself.

Some pictures taken by me and the misses. so far absolute dream to drive.

I'll get better pictures another day, too busy with work at the moment.

The ST's grand-dad on the drive home. It might be faster but no where near as cool. Or as good on fuel...

Looks very nice but I too would put it back to standard. Its ok years ago swapping bits as I did the same with my 3i but in this time I would change the seats, wheels, quarter glass, grill and stick some over riders on the bumpers, lights and indicators

imo lol

Looks well though,love mk3 3i's

Looks great but does need the over riders and front ambers IMHO. A nice set over clover leafs wouldn't go a miss too.
Really need to be back I a mk3 soon, hurry up twins and house move!

Blimey, that brings back some memories for me. As others have said though, get some cloverleafs for it, they would just finish it off. Always loved these.

Cheers everyone for the comments! Not a massive fan of the standard xr3i's never did like the wheels and thought the seats lacked its sporty appeal. RS bits make it what it should to be honest just without the engine! didnt fancy a 80's turbo car haha.

Like that, i think the mods are sympathetic and suit it perfectly all apart from the clears and ford badges but its a real nice example.

engine bay decal set and some wiper hosing clips should be a nice and cheap touch to the 'bay.

Agreed on the cloverleafs, ambers and badging too.

Very nice mate. If it's anything like my old one I'd keep a spare clutch cable in the boot, mine used to eat them and also a few tools to change it at the roadside.

I'm going to go against the grain here a bit but the Cloverleafs are a hideous wheel and the wheels on it work really well. Only things I might be tempted to change would be a swap back to amber indicators and standard Ford ovals
