Hey guys

Just wondering witch gearbox do u think is better for my zetec build as il should be making a start after xmass

The two choices I know of is

Mtx 75 witch came with the mondeo

Ib5 out of a 1.8 focus witch ill have to buy but don't mind

I wana try for 400 bhp witch u all know

What are bad points of either ??

Is there any others ??

I'd say with the power you want it'll have to be a focus RS gearbox, cant see the others lasting long (I could be wrong mind)

 

It's its cable ??

What name of gear box and how much mods to the cr would it be to fit

 

The focus rs box is a mtx75.

 

MTx box without a doubt much stronger than an IB5 although a bog standard MTx I am not sure would be able to cope in the realms of 400bhp and matching torque. A Focus RS box is an MTxof some description but not the same as the one found in the Mondeo and 2.0 Focus.

 

A standard mtx75 with a uprated diff will be ok for 400bhp. The only weak point in a mtx is the standard diff

What kind of mods to the mk4 fezz body will I need ??

 

The only modding you shiukd habe to do to get the box in place is making mountd, chassie wise no chopping should be required

 

I was hoping that I know drivers mounts need doing any others ??

 

Yeh you will need a mount to hold the box to the chassie and a steady bar on the bottom of the box aswell,

 

Ahh ok I have all mount from the mondeo could I use any if them ??

 

Dont know but worth a try.make sure the driveshafts clear every thing before fixing the box in place

 

Well ill use the mondeo mounts wen I get the shafts done ill check will I be able to. Support it with two engine and gearbox top mount if not running ??
