Default Xr2i...are they forgotten about?

Hi all iv recently got myself a white xr2i with original paint, panels never welded no rust ect really clean looking car and turns heads everywere i go but iv bin looking about online and in the ford mags and noticed they dont seem as popular as most other retro ford.
Was just wondering why because they seem to be quite rare for a good one and not much difference from the frst which iv had two in the past.

xr2i's are awesome. Shit in the wet!

I think they are not that popular as they have all been put into a tree, ditch or similar

Get some pics up

Same as the xr3i', rs1800's etc just dont get any recognition always will lie in the shadow of the cosworths and rs turbos.

All great cars and worth saving and showing off!!

Plenty have been left to rot.

As with most XR's, they're generally shadowed by the RS. Shame really as they're a good little car.

Miss my old XR2i, was so thrashable. Saddly got written off about a fortnight after the Grudge Match feature was photographed for Performance Ford.

Ive destroyed 3 xr2is myself 2 crashed, one stripped for parts due to rust.

Good little run arounds.

Preferred the RS1800 out of the N/A fiestas. Especially the 2.0 one i had.

Thanks for the comments i hope the xr models start to get reconised more cause there just as good as any other classic ford...iv had rst's in the past and you get less problems with these and better then a rst replica

Nice car looks like its got the rare re are seats as well, I used to have a mercury grey one and it was a cracking car, changed it for an rs turbo but that was the most unreliable car I have ever owned and was glad to see the back of it.

I've had three CVH engined 2i's, a 16v one and an Si. I preferred the CVH cars to the 16v cars tbh, more fun for some reason!!

A lot of the early ones either rusted out - badly or got wrote off.

Massively grown on me in the past couple of years.... Looked at a couple a while back, but real tricky to find a good one. Usually full of bodgey MOT welding, or shocking mods...

That's lovely!

I've had 2 XR3i's, one's long gone, but I know where the other one is: witting in a a garage in Scotland waiting for his owner to get her arse in gear and give him a new engine!

Looks very clean, I'd be tempted to keep those alloys, space them out a little and lower it 50mm.
