Default fiesta/fusion clutch change help

The wife's tdci fusion requires a new clutch
Which in turn means time for a dmf and slave cylinder
Does anyone have any advice?
I'm being quoted 600 to have it done which is a shock on a grands worth of car
It would be cheaper to replace the engine!
Is it reasonable to use an eBay kit at 300 quid and is it a job that's not going to have me smashing the windows and kicking it off its stands lol
Thanks for any info

not the most fun job in the world, but far from the worst
is it a 1.6? if so theres 1 bellhousing bolt at front next to the dpf thats a pure cunt to get to
the cheapo ebay kits can be a bit hit and miss, i've fitted a few to various differant cars(but only if the customer supplies)
most have been fine, but i have had a couple that have been back within a month with flywheel rattling, slave giving a spongy pedal(got to pump it every morning to use it)
or clutch slipping before long oi its a bit of a gamble
thats why i will never supply them to customers, as theres no way i'd give a warranty with them
but for my own daily etc then i'd prob buy 1 as its only my time i'd be losing if there was a problem

I bit the bullet and bought the parts
All oe kit but £400!
Hopefully the box will nudge over nicely
Does the sub frame need tampering with?
Im expecting to either loosen the hubs or some other way get the space to pull the box over
Its quite a chunk to get out

Best advice is be careful of the clutch pipe, it's plastic and VERY easy to snap, make sure it's released from it's clips and free before you drop the box out.

99 % sure the box comes out without touching the subframe

and no the subframe stays in, push box out towards n/s inner wing, drop the diff our first (back of the box) and your all good.

Ford g/box so no pissing about, you will find the bolt through the dogbone mount to subframe will crack off then go mega tight, dont try to crack it loose if it does, just push it to one side.

i normally use LUK kits at about 150 including the slave.

leave the n/s pot joint in the box, just slip the tripod bearing out and put a latex glove over it so it dont drop off, this saves the diff dropping in the box.

cunts to bleed up again but just be patient

Should be dmf
Ford said it was and I've not found a solid fly kit for it that wasn't a conversion
Cheers for the advice
We are hitting it Monday

Ford technical once told me to check/change the DMF on a Transit Connect, imagine how pissed I was when it was a solid flywheel once I got it out.

I also thought that these were solid flywheels on the little French engines, happy to be proven wrong!

last one i did was solid flywheel, there is one bolt that is covered by the dpf but if you undo the 13mm bolts on the dpf bracket on the front face of the engine and loosen the dpf to turbo clamp you can tilt the dpf forward enough to get to the bolt
other than that they are a pretty easy box to take out

They never improved over the cvh design
Starter hidden out of sight
Bolts under guards out of sight over the box
I could wrap the earth twice with the wiring and hoses in the way
No gearbox drain
Just a few reasons why i should just pay someone else
Took from 1030 til 230 with a lunch break
Nothing broken but i left out the Twat of a shield under the stat housing
Did have a dmf and the old one has loads of play
Maybe 30 degs!
Rivets had gouged the fly and the cover so i think moneys worth was achieved
Less than 1mm of usable material on the new one which seems insane to me

they're not the most fun, but they'r enot that bad compared to some of the modern diesels,
the citroens that have them engines fitted are much tighter to strip
and some have full subframes so it could always have been worse
