Default IB5 and S2 LSD????

.

Looking for a yes or no really, am I right in saying that the S2 LSD fit's straight into the IB5 box?????
Got a spare IB5 box and spare diff sat in the garage so thought I'd chuck the two together for my cabby turbo.

It does bolt straight in as long as it's the 8 bolt hole mounting to the crown wheel out of a series two.

Make sure you use the crown wheel out of the ib5 & bolt your LSD to that & build your box back up.
I've built one ib5 out of an escort Gti which is going to go in my car and I'm going to be doing another one out of a puma for a friend in the next few weeks.

Not quite straight in, you need to grind a little off the LSD or it won't fit the IB5 crown wheel.

different ib5s use different size parts. ie 1.7 puma ib5 uses bigger thicker items than the say 1.25 fiesta ib5.
So its down to which ib5 your going to fit the erst s2 diff into.

+1

I used a mk5 diesel FD and the S2 LSD fit no problem.
However, I was planning to use a puma 1.7 FD but the recess is about 2mm in diameter smaller due to it being thicker.

Only needs about 1m taking off if it doesn't fit.
I've never used 1.7 Puma or Escort GTi box's as the ratio's are IMO too close for FI applications.

Just as a little side note for future reference the diff needs a slight skim off it to fit an ib5 ka crown wheel

Circumference mate.

Also check the inside of the crown wheel before you bolt the diff to it as mine had a slight burr on the inside which I didn't spot straight out & it was causing the diff to pick up ever so slightly & not sit quiet square.
