Fastest MK3 escort engine change
Haha no chance, how did they tighten the engine mounts up they didnt use any tools, also what about the driveshafts how did they get them out without taking the wheels off??
It's just not possible that fast it must have been heavily adapted for the show, Wenny & me timed ourselves getting an rs turbo engine out years ago & we managed 12 mins we thought that was good lol
Actually looks like they did connect something to the carb.

Engine mounts must be just weird V shape channels the engine sat in, thinking about it the Escort had a crossmember under the box, they must've just sat it on that? still can't work out the driveshaft bit.. [ scratches head ]
Funny how they drag matey out by his boots.

- There's enough fuel inside the carb to make it run that far.
- Engine mounts have been modified (as mentioned V-shape or simplified and fastened with some kind of wing nuts)
- driveshafts have been modified (probably two telescopic square tubes, no splines to get them easy out of the gearbox)
- no gearbox oil
- no cooling fluid
- wiring loom reduced to an absolute minimum (ignition, starter) and connected with an easy to separate plug to the rest of the car, things like alternator, gauge senders etc. sure weren't connected
The comments on this video always make me laugh, some suggesting it's got an engine in the back to power it! People don't seem to realise you don't need coolant, or an exhaust, or fuel lines, or a gear linkage etc... to drive 10 feet!
The car is clearly adapted for the task. Sits on it's mounts, is started in gear and with something like a welded diff only needs one shaft connected, that I vaguely remember reading somewhere was done through cogs, rather than splined shafts.
