Default Anyone repaired a stripped spark plug?

Was just wondering if anyone has repaired a stripped spark plug hole and if putting something like a helicoil in there would stand up to the compression in the engine? That's if there is enough meat on the head left to do it in the first place.

Car is an e36 m3 evo if it makes any odds.

Cheers Mark

Yeah I was planning on doing it with the head on tbh as I might be buying it to use as a track car so want to keep costs down but it might turn out to be to nice to track but need to go have another look at it when I get home from work.

I do it every day, its childsplay on a bench, but you need to make sure you get.as much swarf out of the engine as you can before start up. ideally grease the tap and blow it out with an airline. most soark plug taps have a pilot nose, so you jist screw it into the knackered old thread. make sure your piston isn't at tdc though, because you might hit it with the tap

I would have a hoover as close to the tap as possible if your not removing the head. Good tip with the greese though, that should hold some swaft/cuttings
