Default XR3i Cabriolet Owners can you shed some light

Bought a hood cover for my old man’s XR3i Cabby and when we fitted it yesterday we couldn’t work out where/ how the two little straps on the back corners of the cover fit. Are we missing another bit?

Could anyone with a cabby shed any light on this or even better share a photo or three

They loop under the hood when shut to keep the rear down ....

Both my hood covers have the straps ....

Thanks for the reply mate, do you have any images of them working. Just can't see how it's supposed to work even with your explanation, I think I'm missing something here

Are so are there corresponding straps/loop that are supposed to be on the car body that the ones on the hood cover attach to?

Ahh I see so there should be two loops attached the back of the actual hood which you then hook over the little black buckles that are attached to the stubby straps on the back corners of the hood cover?

Will be replacing hood some time but not right away, have provisionally looked at this company which will either sell you a hood as a DIY kit or fit it as well for a fee www.prestigeautotrim.co.uk

The two little 'straps' I think your talking about are held in place by the rear cable (that holds the back of the hood in place) being fed through them, your tonneau cover then has two hooks that attach to them when fitted to stop it flapping around at the back.

I'm desperate to get a new hood fitted before the winter really kicks in, only got the cab on the road so currently my daily driver. Found a place at Ł300 fitted, or Ł115 to fit yourself - carhood.com

Anyone else found them cheaper/got any advice with this?

I wouldnt advise try to fit it too the frame yourself its not easy. Easy enough to swop the hole thing if you find a decent second hand one!

Ł300 isnt a bad price fitted tbh

No worries, I know they do call outs to fit at your home/work too.

Only thing is, I'm guessing this won't include the lining? Anyone had a new roof fitted?

Hi guys thought I would give you and update as I saw this thread pop-up. Thanks to the info from you guys there are two little loops now attached to the back corners of the hood which work a treat for holding the hood cover down

Also more relevant to these recent posts Dad has tracked down the Car Hood Warehouse (mentioned above) Chessington that will do a new hood Ł280 fitted. Their call out is Ł50

It is the outer skin for Ł280

I also thought it was time to show off the home made hood cover tabs made from black tie-down straps
