Default RS central show vs Classic Ford 2014

I'm in the planning stages for shows and events for next year, I know its early but this is what you need to do when planning events, many found central show quiet for the past 2 years and lacking in atmosphere, and classic ford for me personally has been brilliant for past 2 years and both are held at Santa Pod raceway, so I need your input by voting which one you want PF to attend officially

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I can confirm the Ace Cafe London is pre booked annually for passionfords birthday bash held 1st bank holiday weekend from now on

Out of the 2 classic gets my vote as rscs is boring and pretty dead with hardly any traders

Bear in mind that Classic Ford is for classic Fords. Without wishing to start another epic petty thread, 'modern's' aren't well received by the majority of the show goers!

Wasn't having a pop in any way Steve I just know that modern cars are never welcome there, and wouldn't want people being disappointed!

i would go to central day if i had something to take up the strip, otherwise i'd give it a swerve tbh.

out of the 2 i would favour classic ford. it was the best show i went to this year, absolutely cracking day out

Hi ya lot af people on hear no me as tones I'm all so a member of the RS group and I'm part of the central group wich put on central show. In the group there is only 13 members that is all we organise the show and trie to sort every thing out to the best we can we all so have to pay to hire sant pod out of our own pockets. Over the last to years we have had very bad wether and a change of ownership at the pod witch f**ked us about with tickets this year. We are not like classic ford who have people to do there stuff and have more money behind them then we do. Owner hands are tied to what we charge traders 3 years ago the pod told us we had to charge the same as the as there full time traders as we was cheaper.we are trying a upmost for next year as to trie and get more traders in and visiting car clubs to come and as we now use the pod insurance we are opening it up to all makes and models of cars but this is an RS show first as to the atmesfear the was a lot less strip action going on this year which we can not help.with out your and other car clud support we wood not be able to continue going forward thank you all for your support over the last years and I do hope it will carry on cheers tones

thank you Tones for your input as myself and others who arrange club events are under no illusions how hard it is to organise such things, in the past 3 years I have had way too many complaints to warrant holding a club stand at both events without consultation now in advance, hence this topic to seek input from those who are the voice of PF to decide our participation at this show for 2014 and whatever the decision is reached I will abide by it

Classic Ford is a larger event Steve and always well attended but to be fair if only 20 folk wanted to go to Central Day would it be unfair for these people to miss out.

If it means a smaller stand at Central Day and someone else sorts the cars on the day then so be it mate, sometimes folk have to grow a pair and look after themselves Steve.

Obviously those who feel a certain event is not for them then surely they won't be purchasing a ticket bud.

valid point as ever sinbad but when its me the cops it in the neck from pf guys for the show being lack luster I have no argument as I agreed with them for past 3 years, so the way this is being dealt with now is to consult first and act on the decision, that way there is nobody to blame but themself

Central day has become very quiet the last few years and not much track action going on

Don't get me wrong I love both shows and go to both and have done for years .

That's my point Steve, you babysit these too much. If there is a call for a Central Day Stand no matter how big or small, let someone else step forward

Classic ford should be for classics!
I don't want to be walking around looking at a line of focus Rs's or fiesta st's

totally agree as I'm not a fan of it either even at shows like ford fair tbh of course those taking part in the line up may disagree, lucky for us we have a diverse mixture of cars from all eras, and I mix our front rows with cars to suit each event, oldest car on our line up this year was a B plate mk1 cortina

Classic for me! I hear the point about the 'moderns' but they are welcome to park in the car park. Personally, now that the cosworths are welcome along with the RSturbos it only really leaves out all the puma's, zetec S, ST and focus RS models and some other models that though i like, im not that fussed about seeing row after row of.

Its one of the things thats put me off ford fair a little, the row after row of near identical focus that do little to resemble an owner or work as a piece of art.

our stands are always mixed which is your case in point really as if you don't like one car chances are the one parked next to it you will love, unlike the FRS mk1s parked like a ferry terminal dock, this picture shown is of the corner of our stand at ford fair this year

this pic is the rear rows 5/6/7 of our stand and look how mixed it is

Jurasic Ford for me,

more genuine Enthusiasts that arent narrow minded IMO

didnt do central last year due to feeling i was going to waste money sadly

which is a real shame as it used be on par with Durham/Derby as the best in the calender

I will be attending both as I've always done but if it was a choice of one or the other I'd pick classic ford.

I would happily stand in and organise the stand etc if people wanted to display their car on the passionford stand Steve

although i've been to both before, i'd still prefer to go to the central day version as it's more in keeping with enthusiasts doing their bit for other enthusiasts rather than a big publication putting on a show with ease

not taking away from either as i enjoyed both shows in the past and the only issue being the weather (which no one can control) putting me off going to the pod in the first place

if i can't vote for both i won't vote for either

Thanks for the Offer Bil but nothing is decided yet as this thread is to gather input and vote for your choice, will decide what going to happen at end of the year, but unless central show steps their game up I can see which way it will go at this point in time
