2001 zetec-s issues
Hello,
My Fiesta is poorly. It started with a little judder on start up and white smoke. This was about one month ago. No signs of Head gasket issues as all was ok.
This has carried on up until now.
Basically on start up it judders/mis-fires for about 15-20 seconds then it settles down. It seems to smoke (White) on all start ups. Anyway when the judder stops it drives perfect. No smoke, no judder, it pulls, no loss of power, no overheating and no stalling when stationary.
Anyway things tried so far.
New MAF
New coil pack
New Sparks
New Fuel filter
But sod all. After i put the new coil and plugs in the EML came on. I reset the ECU and the light went and has not come back since. Both oil and coolant are fine and not dropping or does not have any foreign stuff in it.
I bought a ODB reader that bluetooths information to my phone and this morning it came up with this
P0303 - Ford Type Powertrain - Ignition System or Misfire -
ISO/SAE Controlled Description Cylinder Number 3 Misfire Conditions Cause Engine running in a positive torque condition, then the PCM detected a misfire condition in engine cylinder number 3 (lack of spark or fuel metering, base engine)
And again this later
Pending Fault Log ------------------ P0300: Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
Going back a few weeks my fuel filter was perished. The fuel came out black when we changed it. So not sure if it threw some crap into the injectors.
This is a video of said smoke. I believe its condensation and I can see no blue to it

It stopped 5 minutes after and ran fine. But as you can see it was persisting it down.
Any suggestions?
Me and my mechanic friend is thinking clogged/faulty injectors maybe from the bad filter. But would a clogged/faulty injector suddenly allow the car to work when its warmed up or would the ECU see this fault and bypass it?
Any help would be great.
Many thanks
Mark

Sounds like coolant escaping into cylinder, causing misfire on start up and clearing once burnt off. Are you sure your coolant level isn't dropping over a period of time?
If you remove the plugs are there signs of coolant on them? (deposits of whatever colour coolant is in there) probably cyl. 3 from the fault code!
Injector or injector circuit would give a specific code.

Hi,
Funny you should mention the coolant again. Its just started to drop. Almost empty this morning. And it seems to be going down slowly. I dont know if its a leak or what.
Sounds like it's going out of the exhaust!
For it to be smoking white it's either got to be oil or water, oil will be more blue ish smoke though.
Remove the plugs, I bet one has signs of coolant on it.
