E38 brembos
Sound do you have any pics and do you know if they stick out any further than cosworth 2wd calipers?
Reason I ask is I am about to order some but want to make sure they will fit as I can't return them if they are marked up

I measured one and they stick out about 6.0 cm from the disc surface. Also be aware the FRS discs are thicker (28mm) than the standard Cosworth discs (24mm) and also have a lower height (52.7mm) than Cosworth discs (55.1mm) which makes the caliper stick out even further.
So I think you should have at least 6.7 cm room from the standard disc surface (6.0 cm + 0.4 cm thicker disc + 0.24 cm less heigt). And of course a few mm clearance.

If running 2wd set up, use evo brembo's, focus rs mk1 front discs, all you need is a flat bracket, its so easy to do mate, good stopping power for little money, its on my saph resto thread some where with pics and measurements.

It's easy mate, you can make your own hoses up by buying the parts from www.raceparts.co.uk focus rs mk 1 discs, Evo calipers and pads etc, basically you need to grind a tiny bit off the caliper in between the mounting lugs to let the brembo sit closer to the 2wd hub, then it's basically a straight piece of ally block to elongate the hubs mounting holes, drill 2 holes to bolt ally block to hub, then two holes further out to mount the caliper.

Yes they are wider, at the end of the day the wheels I ran were 17" momo arrows and they have no brake clearance at all, I used 3mm "I think" spacers to miss the brembos plus iirc I fitted 63mm studs to the front.
I was looking at these kits and upgrading to bigger calipers, but was thinking sorely of you've got more pots, means more fluid is needed to pumped at a different pressure?
so would you not need to update the master cylinder?

The 2wd cossie uses 4 pistons of 40 mm diameter. I think the E38 uses 2 pistons of 40 mm and 2 pistons of 44 mm. The surface of the 40 mm piston is 1256 mm2, of the 44 mm piston it is 1520 mm2. So the 2wd cossie has a total surface of 2512 mm2 (only counting one row of pistons to be able to compare them with sliding calipers), and the E38 caliper has a total surface of 2776 mm2.
So the total surface is about 10% higher, which means 10% more fluid needs to be moved to get the same movement of the pistons. Since the difference is not that big the standard MC will be fine.
The pressure coming from the MC stays the same, so with the 10% bigger surface you also get a 10% bigger force. But the torque exerted to the hubs is also bigger due to the larger radius of the discs (about 17%).

All I know is they look good ,not sure if mine don't feel right as you have to bed them in don't you ?????
So just been out in the car again, if you do order this kit get it WITHOUT the EBC RED STUFF PADS as when cold your arse will be in your mouth like mine just was , when joe fitted them he did warn me they were shit but I didn't think they would be that bad . Changing them this weekend !!!
You have to re shape them to fit . Im going back to forodo ds2500 pads as there excellent , but trying to work out which one's I need is a headache , just called demon tweeks and they said there's loads what will fit, but I need to take the pad out , draw round it and email it to them
I hate Soft pedal ,ive always preferred hard pedal .

I have the E38 brembo caliper with Mk1 RS Focus disks with the caprisport caliper adapter. I had the calipers so I didn't need to get them off caprisport. But they are the same that they supply.
I bled mine a couple of times and the pedal is perfect. I have done a few track days now and the brakes have no problems. Just fresh fluid before each outing and the pedal stays nice and firm!

It took me awhile to find the Ferodo DS2500 pad part number. I couldn't find a listing for a ds2500 pad for the e38 caliper. But they list the cars that use the same pad as the 7 series so I searched for a ds2500 to fit a r33/r34 gtr and got that. They fit perfect.
The e38 brembo uses the same pads as r33/34 gtr's, a couple of Maserati's, 550 Ferrari's and a Fiat coupe!
