Default 2002 Focus 1.6 16v fitted with K&N Air Filter strange results (no raspy noise)

Hi there
First post on PF.com and i was hoping someone might shed some light on this strange thing

I installed a K&N cone filter to my 2002 Ford Focus 1.6 Elle today
Was driving it around for a couple of miles, stopping into places (Homebase, the dump etc etc..) and i could hear what you would expect from fitting an aftermarket air filter the loud boy racery rasp and sucking of lots of air.

Went round to brother inlaws picked some bits up, went to leave for home and i could hear the expected noise, pulled upto a junction pulled away and i thought thats strange sounds exactly like it did before i fitted it, No raspy sound, no loud noise nothing.
Its a normal sound throughout the revs. It was running loud and proud then nothing.

Doesn't bother me so much but would just like to know why and why it happened all of a sudden when it was loud for about 2 hours

Thing is there was no loss in power or anything at all its exactly the same, just no sound. Weird

Any Ideas

Its odd

Cheers

I got an cone filter on mine tho a 1.8, sounds normal like when the standard filter was fitted when idling and if u drive gently, the noise only comes in when u press the accelerator about half down to full throttle

Resolved the problem

It looks like when the filter was fitted (by myself) i forgot to check inside the cone and inside was a piece of card, why i have no idea.

But now removed is all good
