Default Tuning Options on a 2wd saph? 3k

Evening!

Ok so having my saph around 4 months i've already covered about 1500+ miles in it 90% trouble free other than having to replace the rad.

Now i'd like to go down the tuning route. The car is 95% standard, minus a OMP exhaust system and a dump valve (already on the car when i bought it).

The car has covered 103k, the engine doesn't smoke, no knocks or bangs etc however there's no receipt of a rebuild, but looking at the engine, all visible gaskets appear to be new. I know this doesn't mean anything.

Anyway, i've saved up around £3,000 to put into the engine, i DON'T want anything stupid as its only going to be used on the road.

I've approached Norris Motorsport and Reyland whom both seem reluctant to take my money, i assume they are upto their neck in work?

I'd ideally like around 300 - 350bhp. Is this a safe figure? I don't want to be replacing gearboxes and diff's every week.

I've compiled a list of items i think will be covered in my budget?

T-34 Turbo
803's
Uprated clutch (unsure of type?)
Uprated engine mounts
Grp. A head gasket
RS500 style cooler
Cambelt kit
3 bar map sensor
chip / RR setup

Any advice on what i can get for 3k would be appreciated. I have the cash and car sat here so its all go my end.

I'd better put a request out now then for a new head when it departs off the block ....I'm from just outside of Nottingham. Willing to travel for a good and well known workshop / tuner .

Before going stage 3 (330bhp) I would do the head gasket if not already done .
Group a or better .

Uprated Brakes also

If you look at breakers on here you may get a t34 for good money and maybe a brake set up .

When mine set up I had 335bhp /363lbft at 25psi with set of green injectors , 3bar map sensor , pace rs500 Intercooler, t34.63

This is roughly the normal set ups .
But as said go to a tuner near you and ask advice .

I've used mark shead at m a developements and rate him but there are
SCS
MSD
Turbosystems

All good names .

Best way is to go there in person

If I was you though I would be saving some of that £3k towards a new fuel pump loom, possible engine loom etc.

IMO, the standard setup is ok, the trouble is it isn't that straightforward as you need need to be changing wheels, as bigger rotors will not fit under the wheels!

A popular mod is to fit the 4x4 vented rear discs, if you doing alot of track days etc, as the standard ones heat up pretty quick, but even then you will need the calipers.

OP, 2WD transmission is very strong, that power level is fine, it's the 4x4 that has the weak transmission, but on the upside it does have a stronger engine block (which isn't a problem unless you go chasing figures)

The only thing I would say is the millage, but then any decent tuner will do a 'health check' before hand to make sure the extra power won't cause any problems.

With that turbo choice, it's best to opt for Siemens 55 LB injectors instead, as the potential that turbo has is more than the fuel the injectors can supply, plus they are newer than the old Bosch's and are claimed to have a better spray pattern etc.

A -31 actuator will be needed as well, and the head gasket is a must!

Martin

siemens 55's are the better injetor these days, however you'll be very lucky to find a set
best bet in phone tony at turbo systems, he's been tuning these for longer than anybody else
he'll talk you thru whats best for your needs and do you a fair price

If you going for around the 330 bhp mark (typical stage 3) you'll need and uprated breather for the engine and an rs500 style intercooler because the standard 2wd won't be able to cool the air enough.
If your standard engine mounts are in good order don't need uprated mounts but if you do need some just replace with standard.
The seimens injectors are the better more modern and better controlable option.
Then as said earlier maybe try some of the breakers for a bigger brake set-up for safety.
But ultimately get a tuner to give a once over and advise on the best coarse of action.

Ok guys so as some of you may know (on my other thread) I'm in the process of rebuilding my YB. I'm at the stage where i'm fitting the crank etc.

Now i'm in 2 minds which turbo to run. I like the idea of it being future proof.

The block is a 205 which i've had bored out to 0.35 oversize with brand new Mahle low comp forged 4x4 pistons using standard rods.

I'm now looking at T4's. Is it worth running one under 400bhp for the time being?

Everything in the bottom end is new apart from the rods and crank.

I wouldn't go for a T4 for the power you're after.

As Pete already said maybe a T36 or maybe a GT28 or something?

as above, t36 sounds very good
t4 will not be nice to drive at the kinda power level your after
will make the car harder to drive, laggy etc
t36 willbe very responsive and easily do 350, with plenty left for future power upgrades

Cheers for the inputs guys!

Are the turbo's mentioned above a direct bolt on using the same oil feed hose, coolant hose as the T3? I assume it will be?
