Default YB Cosworth WRC long stud issue- help!

Currently rebuilding my engine and have come accross a problem, i have a 200 block with stud and nut kit..

wrote off my 4x4 head when my engine let go, im now fitting an early 2wd 3door head but have noticed the head bolt hole is much smaller than the 4x4 head.

now i know on a 4x4 head you have to grind down the 18mm socket piece to fit in the head and torque bolts. but look at the smaller gap i have on the 2wd head!

do ARP supply a 16mm sized bolt to accomodate this 2wd head issue or am i going to have to machine 2mm off all 6 bolts?

will be ringing some engine builders today if i find time at work but this would be helpful in the meantime!

Thanks.

Not an option!

Far as im aware these are the ones you convert the block for. not just the wind in ones that can be wound out and replaced with standard cosworth ones.

If they are the ARP ones Ram, launch them mate.

If they're the proper long studs then you'll be ok.

They don't look like ARP nuts though. Whether you can get nuts with the smaller heads on I don't know.

Gary and AJC - was unaware that there were more than one company doing them. these are the proper long studs not the cheapie standard depth screw in ones.

Ade 500 - that would be awesome if you had 6 of em to flog! will check thread type when home tonight

I have spare in the fine thread as above, if not arrow precision +44 (0)1455 234200 may have them ( arp stockest ) but I think they only have bags of tens.

Ram you have a similar issue to what i had - although mine was worse as your head looks like a 2wd head but a 23mm version where as mine is the 21.5mm so the holes in mine were even smaller.

I had the head machined to suit which cost next to nothing - the holes were opened up and the seats were machine flat

The nut's that come with proper long studs are hex style as below

I have a spare set of genuine nut's if you get stuck mate

ADE 500 - cheers mate just need to confirm what thread size WRC long studs are then i can see what nuts i can use! not sure if theyre wider than normal head bolt threads, but they look pretty fat.
Reckon my best bet is going to be ordering some k nuts.

will get on it shortly if i can grab a lunch break

Brammer - defo would haver just opened the head holes abit like you have . but shes just been freshly lapped in and built up so im not stripping it down again

I'm guessing the 3door heads had slightly smaller holes as the head bolts for them have smaller washers?!

I've got a saph 2wd head on a long studded block and machines down a socket and it was fine!!

I think the bolt size is same too as from memory when I built mine I didn't have washers so took them off some old head bolts I had kicking about!! Thread pitch may be different though....
