I loved my old pinto powered Cortina, it was faster than my mates 16v Mk2 astra upto 105mph lol.

It had a burton stage 3 head, kent cam, Grp2 3 piece exhaust manifold and a standard 32/36 DGAV re-jetted.

Supposedly made 160bhp and 155lb/ft on a dyno more than a few times

I did not think you got that bhp from that set up as a full race (everything done they will be a bit over 200bhp , and with twin 45s they recon 155bhp and that set up your saying try around 140 ish at best

I have already had It at 105mph tbh I'm after more acceleration more torque and if top speed comes into it then that's just a bonus

so how much work you planning on doing? ie cylinder head ( big valves)
mines will spin the two back wheels 1st 2nd on a dry road so has a little bit of grunt down low but not much at higher speeds

could be I don't know how well they go , but imo if a tuned pinto was in a light car it would take on most things newer

Tbh as much as it will take until I'm happy with it I mean I am planning in doing this over a period of time mine spins first and second as well but I what more power through the entire range not just in the low gears

tbh it would then be your cam that you would need to pick for where you want your power coming in ie 4500rpm-7000rpm .
if I was you I would go ,
twin 45s
high lift cam
double valve springs
maybe even long rods (for fast revs)
light flywheel
veriner pully
4/2/1 manifold (2.5" pipe to the back)
head skimmed
block skimmed
maybe even cosworth crank/con rods/flywheel
edge starter
if you could get hold of an rs200 cylinder head it would be a plus if not get one done with big valves / ported
lightened and balanced
I recon at that it would sound and go well

Get yourself on turbosport you will get all the correct info on tuning the pinto there.
Read the threads in the engine building section.
