Default S2 turbo put foot on clutch n it try's to cut out

Coming home from work tonight and came to a stop with clutch pressed down and it went to cut out the red light popped on briefly for the engine!
Any ideas whts the matter with it,
Dip stick n header tank all pushed in n not popped out

Well mine did the same a few months after buying it. It ended up being the bottom end getting worn out. :/

It could also be a blocked oil pick up pipe( the one you see when you remove the sump) the carobn build up blocks the gauze and restricts oil pick up.
The oil pump could be worn out aswell. Try these out before considering a worn engine.

Also have you checked the loom on the switch, these can work lose and sometimes dont sit on the switch well. My old XR3i used to love chucking the wire off the switch.

I thought dip stick was on properly it was slightly out!
Ill take her for a drive and check!

Yep..... This would cause an air leak, meaning the car would most likely run lean and not idle so it would cut out at traffic lights etc.... The oil and or battery lights will come on if it idles extremely low say below 500rpm.

i had an issue with one of mine years ago after first buying it, would cut out after a hard throttle took me ages to find the fecking dump valve was sticking open every now and then barstuard thing grrrrr. lol

Sorted it I think! Hasn't cut out n revs picked up well! Idles fine now! It must of been the dip stick or just a funny spell! Thanks for your help guys!

If a dump valve sticks open would wd40 do the job or Greece?

If the dipstick does it again or keeps doing it maybe consider a uprated breather system if you havnt already got one mate like a baileys etc.

They usually get stuck open from a bit of grit orsomething.
Had it once before with a bailey twin piston.
