Default My full S2 ERST restoration currently taking place

Hi everyone, I'm new to PassionFord and I'd like as many people to see my restoration that is currently on going with my 1986 S2 ERST. Please take the time to have a look and make comment.

I hope everyone likes the work being done.

Also anyone with any parts/spares please get in touch as I need lots of bits.

Thanks, Alan.

Thanks, I've had the car for over 8yrs now and it has got worse.
I'm the second owner (know the guy that got it new) so it would have been a shame to have scrapped it (many said and say I'm mad for doing it).
I'm hoping its going to be a great solid ORIGINAL (in terms of looks and spec) obviously it's had to have after market panels.

I thought about the power steering mod, but I've been slated for even contemplating it ! Think it's a nice modern addition to an already great car.

I've actually been working on the car since march this year (2013) and got a guy called Steve Mullen doing the welding and bodywork for me ready for the paintshop, which should hopefully be within the next 2/3 weeks.

I'm hoping to get the car fully on the road next year and get out to plenty of meets and show.
I've taken over 1000 pics of it so far and hope to put it all into an album and keep it with the car when out and about for people to see.
I understand the car won't be genuine through and through, but it will be another SOLID RS back on the road and hopefully in fantastic condition.

i am going down the power steering route so my wife can drive the car,we are doing this resto together and it would be a shame to do all this work and her not wanting to drive it because of the non pas.

It would have been criminal to have done that, I'm the second owner, interior is immaculate, 100k genuine miles, part engine rebuild with full service history, just the metal worm letting it down. Didn't help that I bought it 8+ yrs ago and haven't done a thing to it except let it get worse!
I could have gone out and bought one that 'looked' mint but would never have known the full condition of it, at least with this now I know the car inside out and that its 99.9% solid with photographic evidence (loads of pics!).
I genuinely love this car and I'm hoping to add to it with something else in the future.

I've got some new (sections) panels. X2 front floor pans x2 rear chassis leg repair panels. As I say bits have been cut off and used so they are not complete panels. FREE for collection in Nottingham

More updated pics on my website. All the welding is now done !! Onto the prep work now. Engine bay and front panel rubbed down and rust converter applied to small spots dotted around engine bay and zinc primed. Passenger door has been filled, sanded and primed ready. Roof dent now repaired, filled and sanded.
In the next coming week the rest of the prep work will be done ready for the body shop to transformed a now solid motor !

Did you leave the loom in when you had it painted?

Paint looks good...

Been off the car for a while, as I got myself a bike. However tonight 25/3/14 I got stuck in with a mate and stripped the engine/gearbox some more. Divided the parts into parts for sandblasting and powder coating, ally parts for cleaning up and then parts for degreasing and enamel painting (like exhaust manifold, block and head). The gearbox is off the engine and drained with driveshafts removed (4 new boots needed on them and painting).
Removed all the abs gubbins (what a mess that looks) and have decided it will NOT be going back on.
