Default Thinking of Mk5 Zetec S?

Hi All,

I have been saving for a while now and its time for me to upgrade to a new car and get away from my horrid first car.

I would like to get hold of a Mk5 1.6 Zetec S in Imperial Blue,I thought who better to ask about problems than ford owners.

Is there anything I should look out for on them when going to look at one?

Also are there any good mods I can do to the car that you would suggest?

I am eventually hoping to make it a 1.7 Puma but with insurance that is not viable yet.

Thanks All,

Ryan

Rusty rear arches are common, also make sure it's been serviced regularly. Worn rings and stem seals are common on poorly maintained ones, as well as bottom end problems. But if it's been serviced and the oil level maintained, then they're fine. Also rear beam bushes are crap, upgrading them to polybushes is a brilliant idea. In all, they're a fun little car!

If you can, go for a later one with the blacktop engine.
Everything else has been pretty much covered by Sam.

HCV is common as well, but easy fix.

Powerflex bushes are the best to go for.

I had a full piper system on mine with a decat which sounded great.

Personally not a fan of Miltek, sounds to raspy like a wet fart.

I had a full Milltek on mine which sounded lovely at high rpm, but wasn't too loud when just driving around town etc. I'm not a fan of really loud deep exhausts on Fiesta's, doesn't suit them.

Thanks Man Yer I have to agree one of my mates has a full miltek system on his and I do love the sound of it and doing my research it looks like the best option for me personally.

Thanks
