Default Back after a long time away! Sierra saphire/4i/cossie

Hi,

I use to be on here aaaage ago in my little xr2i. After a few years away in jap cars drifting etc etc Ive come back to a ford to do some track days.

I now have a Sierra Cosworth rep. Originally a 1.8 its been converted to 4wd with a 2.9 efi ( i think its 2.9 ) V6 xr4i engine. usual mods.. lowered on adjustable Koni shocks and springs. Polybushed, cat back and filters. The underside is stupidly clean.. everything is undersealed and painted.. the bloke I bought it off was adamant it was clean but until you get it up on a ramp you never really know. was a real pleasant surprise. ive added a few bits.. splitter being one.

heres a few pics.. its been such a long time since owning a Ford.. it bloody love being back behind the wheel of one... compared to the 300-400hp drift cars I had before its a touch gutless but sounds imense and has a lotve torque.. enjoying the NA too.. got very fed up of Turbo's letting go.

I have a few questions too.. but ill add them after pics.. as this is faaaar to much typing!

No longer has the Morettes on.. not my cup of tea so theyre now on ebay lol

so....questions!

1- it came with a few spares.. one of which was a rear sun blind that fits to the rear roof lining and pulls down?! is this a ford item?!

2- i know its an old engine.. but its not huge power.. im going a good service this weekend but tbh i think i just wnat a bit more grunt... is there anything i can check to make sure its at elast running right? or anyone local to Essex who can check?

3 - I wouldnt mind dropping a 24v cossie lump in there... can anyone point me int he direction of a guide? easy to do? ( ive changed a few engines before)

ive probably got more questions but ill leave it there for now.. so pleased to have this motor atm.. had tons of fun rocking around in it the past few days!

You have mentioned a better option, that being the BOA/BOB V6, which is 200 HP/210HP respectively!

Yours is not a 4i engine, it's a late XR 4x4 engine, basically an enlarged 2.8 Cologne, they were 'claimed' as 150 HP, where as the 2.9 is supposted to make circa 160 HP IIRC, but they are not really that tunable.

The Cosworth V6 was from a Granada but it is a very popular conversion and I don't think it's a lot of work, seen as both share the same platform anyway.
