Ideally you should put in what you had it mapped on.
I always use Shell V-Power or V-Power Nitro as it's called now.

If you put anything else in other than vpower then you may aswell just piss in your tank.

Do you add any additives to the fuel?

Is the shell the same ron as tescos . 99 ron? Surely that would be safe to use aswell.

This ^^.

If you go lower octane when it's mapped for higher octane it can cause issues such as pinking etc.

As a general rule, FI and other N/A engines like 'SUL' though.

In the case of a 'run of mill' motor though using 'SUL' wouldn't cause any harm, but you wouldn't gain any benefit.

My mate is a tanker driver and says when he fills his tanker up the Optimax and Tesco super is the same stuff from the same hose. Only difference is the Optimax gets an extra cleaning additive put in at the next pump (he pulls the truck forward and adds the additive at the refinery). For example he gets the Tesco and Optimax from Tank 1 for example and the additive from Tank 2. It is left to mix in the tanker on his journey to the filling station.

I thought the same myself, but he explained it all to me the other day. He's an older gent and is very particular, almost OCD like, so I have no reason to think he would lie. Possibly the additive could be performance enhancing too but definitely the same base fuel.

Is a bit funny what with Ferrari's name on the v power fuel! Plus tesco is a competitor.
I'd have thought Ferrari would pull there name if it was the same after all the spill about it being made along side them for there cars

has your car been live mapped?
if not, then most chips, like MSD will only insist on 97+ RON rated fuel

if its just a stage 1 chip then i suspect 97+ rated fuel will be OK, but if you ring GGR they will tell you what fuel the chip is designed for

Actually BP do the highest octane, at 102ron, but it's only available at certain stations.

In my country there is 95 RON and 98 RON fuels, and I always use the 98. There's also Shell V-Power Nitro+ but it's also 98 RON and identical to normal 98 exept for few additives which probably have no big effect on the engine... Couple years ago V-Power was still 99 RON but not anymore. I take it that normal gas in UK is 97 RON, but what is the RON octane rating for V-power in your country?

We also have few gas stations with E85 which is common fuel in tuned turbo engines here...
