Default Tddi - bleeding fuel system?

I've had the fuel lines off between the pump and injectors to do the oil cooler stat, just wondering if the system needs bleeding before attempting to start?

I've got the inlet off too, will give that a clean at work tomorrow. Thought it would be very clogged as it's done 130k, but there was just a small bit of oily gunge that will come out with a good steam clean.

Plenty of info out there for the tdci, but very little for the tddi regarding bleeding.

Thanks
Rich

The TDDIs have a lift pump in the tank which means that it should 'self bleed'. The TDCi only has one high pressure pump that needs an uninterrupted supply of fuel, hence why they're a bastard to start if there's air in the system.

With yours make very sure that the fuel filter is brim full, and it should start ok.

Thanks for that Dan, I've not touched the filter so it should be fine. When I changed the filter last year I brimmed it and it fired straight up, just wasn't sure about what happens if you get air in the lines after the pump. Will get it all back together tomorrow evening so touch wood she'll be alright!

Needed to crack the injectors off to get it to start but was fine.

Just another question, does anyone know what temperature the cooling fan should operate at? I've done the dash test thing to get the coolant temperature reading up, after a good drive then sitting at 2000 rpm for 15 minutes it reads as high as 92° but didn't seem to want to go much higher. All radiator hoses are nice and hot and heaters now blows lovely and hot but just can't seem to get it hot enough to start the cooling fans.

Cheers

They're very 'thermally efficient', so it's unlikely you'll bring on the fan unless the engines under load on a hot day. I never noticed the fan ever coming on on my TDCi. If everything's hot, and the gauge sits normally (just under half way IIRC) I wouldn't worry. The oil stat can jam open and cause them to over cool, but over heating is very rare.
