Default "A" Pillar Trims

I have fitted a Saph dash to my 3dr and the A Pillar trims are a long way off.

I am surprised as I also have a Saph dash in the 4i and the A pillar trim fits fine

Do some Saphs have different A post trims ?

Do you know from which year car I could get the correct trims ?

Only thing I can think of is the facelift dash might be different? Could the trims be from a facelift? I presume you'll have the early dash..

The trims in the pic are from the 3dr.

I removed a trim from the 4i and they are the same as whats fitted to the 3dr

That's normal when you use a Saph dash Steve, mine was the same, remodel the A pillar trims?

I've just had a look at my 89 Sapphire Ghia and it has a 5mm gap.

And if it helps the pillar trim is a dark grey.

I only have the dash not the trims.

Like I said the 4i has a Saph dash and the trims fit fine, very strange

Hi Steve
I have a saph dash in my 3dr and it all fits fine, my friend fitted a saph dash & it ended up like that, I presume there must be slight differances in some off the dashes. Perhaps somebody knows

TBH the dash looks fine with no signs of shrinking or warping.

Moonstone Steve said his dash has infills between the dash and A pillars.

He was going to take some pics for me, still waiting lol

i had the same problem, so bought saph a pillar trims and it reaches down like it should, the saph ones do fit the 3 door but only one mounting hole lines up to where they screw into the car, so you would have to drill into the metal to make do for the other hole or just tighten the 1 mounting point up good as i have which is fine in my car it stays up like it should and doesnt rattle about

few different dash setups steve,

changes about 1990 then again the facelift in 92

obvious ways to tell,

door handle locking mechanism, i.e push handle or early seperate button

this make sense?

Sean.

p.s the lower kick pannels, lower dash and A pillars should usually all be taken from donor car.......... as you can see why
