Default Modified vs Original

What are your views? Originality or modified?

The car started as a 1972, yellow, 1100 Base and has 7 previous owners. The shell was really good hence a good base for the modifications.

I'm not a mechanic so I took it to a race specialist to go over with a fine tooth comb. Nothing was wrong with the car when I bought her but some mods were made so that I was 100% secure ferrying my kids around.

Previous owner did the following:-
Shell was completely blasted inside and out
All rust cut out and replaced new floors
Extra large gbox tunnel fitted in case the need to fit a t5 at a later date
Resprayed Subaru ice blue - rare colour similar to blue mink but brighter
Engine is a new Ginetta G40 1800 race engine - basically RS1800i engine blueprinted
Twin 40s with megajolt ignition
Alloy rad, alloy sump, 421 manifold
Type 9 5 speed gearbox fitted
Brand new prop
Anglia 105e axle fitted as stronger and to run wider tyres if required
7x13 split rim style superlights with Yokohama tyres fitted
2.8i Capri front legs, new callipers and lowered springs
Granada rear callipers
Bias pedal box
Mk 1 Golf headlights

Work I had done:-
Complete rewire of the car, brand new twin 40s, changed the dash dials to Smiths dials from a Morgan, changed seats to genuine mk 1 classic style with beta cloth, strengthened the sump, re fit fuel lines, set up car on rolling road, fitted modified heater, fitted chrome window inserts, fitted fibre glass quarter bumpers, fitted rear belts for the kiddies! etc.

It's subtle. I like it. Sort of an OEM plus vibe going on. That's my kind of car. Top job

i think you have to consider a cars value. this looks too far modified to worry about ruining originality with more mods. i had a very original xr4i that i was scared of driving at one time in case anything was damaged or broke.
nice escort.

Yes, I take your point, a lovely xflow is good, modified retro that goes like stink is good in another way!

I'll find out soon when my yellow one gets it's 1700cc xflow.
