try pulling the fuel line of the front of the filter housing.two lines facing you and its the top one.crank the engine and leave a little fuel out
reconnect pipe and crank engine as normal.
if you got air and fuel when bleedin it should start.
thats the priming head and where the button is to prime/pressurise the system is leaks.
this then leaves air into the system which is death to a diesel
hope it sorts it , did mine recently and its a common problem.
new one from ford built up was 65 euro and is cheaper than spurious

if theres plumes of smoke while cranking and at tickover then its pump timing.
whip the cover off and loosen 3 bolts on pulley-twist one way and tighten and try that!

There are 2 timing belts on the diesels. 1 for the cam and 1 for the pump.

Fookin Cat Weasels!
didn't think they broke down!!
Yeah as he said, dissconnect the wires from the glow plugs and with a testlight, place the teslight wire on the positive terminal on the battery and put the probe on the electrical connection on the glow plug. If the test light lights then that plug is down.

Yeah but all you are testing there is that the glow plug relay & supply is all ok & working, the plugs themselves could still be knackered and to determine this you need to do as i said above!
