Just wondered what your guys reviews are, more in particular the 2.2 TDCI. They seem loaded with toys and seem quite nippy whiles still returning 40-50mpg. Is that true? Whats it like to live with?
I've got an 08 titanium estate, it's been superb for the last 40k miles.
Never missed a beat, 47mpg average, cheap to service etc, very hard to fault.
Only selling it cos I want a fast toy again...

you mean the 2.2 engine that makes 155 ps is a different engine to the 2.2 lump that makes 155 ps in the st then?
i know that the v6 3.0 in the later cars only made 200 ps as opposed to the st220's 220 ps, but i've seen plenty of titty x badged cars with the same engines and engine bay badges on them

I should read all posts before posting
All the diesels in the mk3 are the same base engine, borrowed out of the transits, you are correct. And it's actually the RWD spec transit engine not the FWD.
The diesels in the mk4s are totally different and much better, but hold a lot more money.
Given the age/mileage of most mk3s these days I'd be very skeptical unless it has receipts for recent injectors and DMF at the least

Unfortinately i cant stretch to a Mk4 as its a real push for a Mk3. Im just looking to upgrade my Mk1 Focus so its a lot more cash for a Mondeo. I hear alot mentioned about the injectors and Duel Mass Flywheel. Are they a serious proplem?
A high mileage TDCI which has already had the work done is a much better bet than a low mileage one that hasn't.

Derv's hold their value pretty well, well enough than the 2.5 turbo Mondeo that comes fully loaded.
I'm taking MK4, had(still got) MK3 TDCI 130, was nice just a tad too problematic with sensors and injectors being a costly repairs (out weighted the price I paid for the car) so ran it til ran out of T&T and can't bloody shift the fecker!!

That thing
You can do it with a screwdriver but it tends to mark the alloy
