Default S1 and S2 fuel pump relays...

I can repair SOME of these relays depending on what the fault is.

If any of you have any old ones lying around and fancy having a spare I will repair them if you want.

Just fitted an alarm to my car, i noticed that the plastic on the bottom of the fuel pump relay is starting to melt, the car is still running ok. I replaced the terminals in the relay base on the red feed and red/black wire to the pump. You think it time for a new/repaired relay?

can anyone tell me where to locate the fuel pump relay please

i have owned a fiesta for 3 years and only just got a escort turbo but need to over ride the pump relay because im fiting omex

Fuel pump relay in under the dash to the right of the accelerator pedal, its pink.

cheers mate any idea if i will be able to solder a wire across 2 of the terminals to keep the pump going with out engine turning because the omex wont control the pump when the tacho is in use

hopfuly this shouldnt efect the imobiliser

roll on the 2.1 zt!

Where is your fooking old one?

Moonie, if it is still working then it is not soemthing that you can decide on to be honest. Usually the terminal is just getting hot which is what causes the melting. They do fail every so often. You could buy yourself a spare and keep it in the car then you have a "get out of jail free" card.

The standard S2 Escort relay uses pulses from the coil so this relay has NOTHING to do with the management (unlike the Escort S1 relay). As long as you have the green wire from the ignition coil negative to the relay then the relay will work as normal wether you have KE Jet or Pectel T10M or anythin at all. This relay is you SAFETY FUEL CUT OFF. If your management won't control a fuel pump relay then leave it in.

No, so basically the standard Series 2 RST pink fuel pump relay works independant of the management system.

If your management you intend to fit can control the fuel pump, then wire it in with management. If the management that you intend to use will NOT control a fuel pump, then leave the fuel relay in, making sure you don't damage or remove the green wire from the relay itself, to where it joins onto the coil negative terminal.

Is that any clearer for you? It is basically a completely independant fuel pump control system that can still be utilised with an EFI system that may not have pump control....

As daz says, its controlled by pulses from coil/dizzy not the ECU

i just pluged in a standard relay and it works a treat switches on/off with the ignition key

and it still woks with my imobiliser

And it still has the safety feature of cutting off your fuel in the event of an accident!

After reading the other post, no it doesn't have FCO in an accident so you still have the risk of possibility of burning to a crisp......
