how do you check the earthing points ect

how to do you check to see if you have a good earth???

check the resistance of the connection by using a multimeter set to the Ohms scale, one lead on the car chassis one lead on the wire youve connected to the chassis

low Ohms value is a good earth, high is a shite one.
