Hi all,

I have inherited a 1996 Mondeo Estate Auto, which on short distances runs really well, the issue is when it goes on a long run, it seems to get to a certain point and then erratically change gears, almost as if it can't find the right one.

Effectively the car jerks around whilst it looks for a gear, I slow down , cruise in neutral till under fifty, then put back in drive and it's elects a gear fine.

I have dropped the auto fluid which was nasty and replaced for new but issue continues....

Any ideas?

 

Mondeo auto boxes were notoriously shite, not sure what causes the prob but was generally considered worth scrapping the car once they were broke
