Jaguar S-Type 2.7D V6 twin turbo
Anyone on here owned one, works for Jag, knows them, etc and are they any good?
I was looking at getting an E60 but noticed these seem sensibly priced in comparison and no slouch either.

I've got a mate who is a jag tech, I do the mots for a dealer.
Not bad, they shift aswell but seem to suffer with tyres, wheel bearings, ball joints but doesn't most models. Regular oil services are a must, think they get bore wash easily which obviously dilutes the oil, I've known a few run on & take out the engine

Thanks. I quite like the look of the X and XKR's but everyone I know who's had one would never ever again have another. The S's look pretty good value for money on paper.
it's a peugeot/citroen/ford engine. developed in conjunction with the companys 1.4/1.6/2.0/2.2 projects.
The 2.7 is fitted to the discovery 3, Rangerover Sport, s-type/xj/xf and 407 coupe.
Imho the biggest downfall is it never made it's way into the mondeo.
With the land rover scene, problems with egr valves (one each side) injectors, turbos and timing belt being costly are all points of concern. But what modern diesel doesn't have problems with egr/turbo/injectors?
As for S-type, no direct experience with the diesel but drove a 3.0 for the first time a few months back and loved it, a really nice car that drove really well, and this was a bit of a ropey 14 year old example with 160k miles.
