Default BMW X5 03 plate

Hi all, so i now think ive finally sold the subaru . Theres a few reasons

1)to small

2) we are trying for our 2nd baby

3)i want a big safe car for the above

So ive spent hours on the internet searching for cars upto 7K range

All i keep going back to is BMW X5s as you seem to get a lot of car for the money , one i looked at today was fully loaded . Electric everything . 2 tvs and a wii in the back ..............£5750 . 3.0D with 112k on the clock

I also keep going back to a dealers website in surry where there is a black X5 again fully loaded with 60k on the clock , only problem is its a 4.4i petrol

Whats your views on these cars ? Whos owned /got one ?

Ive not yet driven one but i hope to tomorrow

Thanks for any advice

Dave

Big thirsty motor, nice inside and like most BMW's drive nicely. Imho though I can't see a reason for one over something more normal like a 3 or 5 series BMW.

Just my opinion

Arent there gearbox issues with the earlier ones that use a rangey box?
Nice motors,4.4is rapid but thirsty as hell, derv good but more pricey.
We have a merc ml 270cdi which is great but hasn't been without its issues, nice smooth drive but not as sporty as the x5.
Toyota/Lexus rx300 are nice, plenty for your money or even a toureg although they have a few shitty problems too.
You do feel safe driving them but in reality i doubt their much better than a modern car.
Merc cls are nice, could get a 500 for your budget, thirsty but quick and reliable.

We have owned ours for nearly 4 years.
Nice car to drive and very comfy
Wife drives it daily as feels safer in that with our daughter.
Bit thirsty on fuel but on long runs is pretty good.
Just fitted angel eyes to update lighting too (not pictured)

Would rather a more modern E60 5 Series, thats why i got one over an X5, as for that money they are just like an E39 inside......

Bit of a change

Today i went to look at the X5 with the gf , she drove it and liked it . but we found another car on the net today so why we was out went and looked at that too just to compare them both

In the end we drove away in the 330d . 52 plate 80k full history with black leather ,every toy known to man PLUS its a manual

On the way home avg mpg was 37.5

Seems to effect all E46's although far more common on the more powerful models. My brothers drove perfect, he just found a crack whilst he had it up on the ramp at work.
