This maybe of no interest as its not a Ford but here goes.
Me and my best mate have bought a S1 Lotus Elise for a track Car, we did 3 track days with the Rover K Series engine with a massive 130 BHP and became very clear that we needed a little more power, so the decision has been mate to fit a 20v Audi Turbo engine mapped to 280BHP. In a 700 kg car it should do the trick
This is how we bought it, please ignore the Spoiler it will be removed.

We bought a hard top

Painted it

Actually I think it looked better silver
And then bought this

We have remove the seats

Then the rear clam

Got access to the hugely powerful k series

And removed it

And ended up with this

looks very cool, be nice to see someone fit the audi engine that isnt from a company, make sure you take photos and give us some info on the mounts you are using.
Im going a different way with my s1, its currently got a supercharged k series in it, im going to get that up from 210bhp to 250bhp then get the weight down to 680kg with a lightweight body.
I have thought about going down the audi route when i want to go up to 400bhp+ so be nice to see how you mount it as it all seems a bit secret squirrel from searching.
Oh yes, your running the same harnesses as me, I removed the bolts and brackets and wrapped the the harnesses around the bar, means the seats can go further back, they arnt bent around the seat and also you save a tiny bit of weight, ill take some pics if it helps explain what i mean.
Have you weighed it at 700kg, or just guessed?

Nice conversion!
A local guy did a Lotus Elise K series into a Rover 100 Kensington, and i watched it destroy a 400bhp impreza one night!!
Someone needs to buy your elise engine and do the same

Steve Guglielmi in Daventry do some very nice 20v conversions in the Elise , his time attack car was @ 600 hp and beat many hight horse power jap cars .....

Wow quite a bit of interest
, got the Audi engine and the Elise PG1 gearbox mated together with a Reyland adapter plate. It's not a permanent fit as we are going to rebuild the gearbox and fit stronger valves and con rods in the engine.
Hoping to test fit the engine the weekend so we can look at engine mounts.

Cool project and keep the updates coming. I did one of these last year as a project to sell on, but like I normally do got carried away with spec and built a car I fell in love with. Was the main reason for the Westy getting sold.
