Default fiesta Mk4 engine conversion

Hey guys,

I am pretty new to the whole forum thing. My little 1.25 fiesta is on the way out. I had it as a first car and it has lasted 3 years. I was wondering if i decided to rescue my baby and get an engine conversion, Besides the obvious 'another 1.25 fiesta' engine what would be the easiest and cheapest to put in.

Any thoughts would be helpful and appreciated.

Cheers Guys

One of the following:

1.4 zetec se (mk4 si)
1.6 zetec se (from a zetec s mk5)
1.7 from a puma

they are the most straight foward ones, but if you have the cash and the skills
2.0 duratec from fiesta ST
2.0 zetec from momdeo or focus
1.6 cvh turbo from and escort/ firsta RS turbo
Duratec turbo from mk1 focus RS

And you are insane

Small block Chevy
4G63 from and evo
RB26 from a sjyline
2JZ from a supra twin turbo
Dodge Viper V10
Rolls royce merlin V12 from a spitfire WW2 fighter.

for easy revvy power go for the 1800 zetec from the RS1800 or MK5/MK6 XR3i with a lsd turbo gearbox, as above mondeo 2.0 works well with the turbo box as well and sound mint on a set of bike carbs or twin 45 for serious bark.

Just go with a Puma lump, simple nut and bolt conversion, plenty of threads about it or get over to ZSOC.com.
2.0 is an option, but don't bother with carbs, we're not in the 80's anymore.

I too would like to know about mounts.

I guess your running an IB5 to use the original shafts and original gearbox mounts?

If not how did the gearbox mount fabrication go down?

Any pictures of the offside engine mount? Looks like a mondeo mk2/focus mk1 from the pics, but what does it bolt to?

Thanks, Phil.

Tip.
Zetec-E and Zetec-R are to diffrent setups and the little trick with the bellhousing used on Zetec-E dont work on Zetec-Rs as thay have diffrent bolt patens. Easly fixed you'll need to whole lower case from the zetec-e 1.6/1.8 and just replace the zetec-r lower crank case and sump with the 1.6/1.8 zetec-e.
Wiring wise for the fiesta rip the whole lot out but leave the tail lights and fuel pump wires there and just use the mondeo loom to run everything thing esle and just tap the fuel pump and tail lights onto the mondeo loom.

Sorry for not replying I hadn't seen the posts!! Thanks for the comments!

I had to make an engine mounting point and used the Focus mount. Using an IB5 gearbox to use same mounts and shafts. Made a equal shaft bearing support for the long shaft.

It's running 220bhp and 250 ft/lbs at the moment, but got a new turbo exh housing to go on and remap... I'll stop at 270bhp I think!! Haha

Goes well.... Shocks a few people too.
