Cougar 2.5 v6 1999 battery light

I have noticed that at 5000rpm my battery light comes on. Any idea's why that may be? Also I find it a bit jumpy when accelerating as it goes upto and around the 3000rpm mark?

Sounds like Alternator is on the way out or a wire is loose. Same engine as Mondeo ST24 so it will be the same alternator faults.

at 3000 ish the iirmc kicks in (like a twin choke) giving you extra power .
