Default MK4 1.8 Zetec

Hi guys! im new to the site but it was a case of when not if that id join!
I was wondering if someone could give me a little insight into my project idea.
I have a MK4 Escort, and have the chance to pick up a Focus 1.8 Zetec engine, box and loom relatively cheap. What i need to know is will the engine/box combo work with mounts, linkage and will the shafts fit? Also do i need to look out for any ancilliaries to modify, ie alternator, starter etc..?
a lot to ask for my first post i know but gotta jump in the deep end!!

A Silver top is a easier fit but the blacktop will go. I think you'll need to fabricate a gearbox mount. What engines in the car at the mo? I used CVH alternator, starter and gearbox with my silver top. Just spend some time trawling build threads on here and you'll see how everyone else has done it.
Good luck

So i picked up the Escort today, wasnt expecting it to be as clean as it is!! only tin worm i can find is slight bubbling on the rear arch, and on the floorpan where the rear bolt of the drivers seat bolts to...
Some ol' dear had it before me and i think she must have only done 6 mies in it and replaced everything, or cleaned everything!!! Pretty chuffed with the purchase, and to make it better i had a quick trip upto the local scrap yard and sorted out a 'silvertop' and a set of 16" mond 5ive spokes!
as soon as i got it home i started stripping the old girl

Nice one, don't suppose the scrap yard was crosskeys as I saw some nice 16s on an early Mondy ST in red

Right now i have the engine from the scrap yard, im planning on having the head of, changing the gasket and having the head skimmed. I have read that the silvertop is safe for a .40 thou skim and a focus rs .7mm gasket..is this correct as the focus oilways and water jackets will be different on the block surely? Any help would be much appreciated
