Hi all, after having changed my glow plugs twice I am still getting told I have brought counterfit ones. Well today I took all four of them out and shorted them out on a battery with a screw driver.. I know... well they all in turn glowed well and hot. I had tested them first with just a thin wire and they would not glow or the wire burn out I had thoght they were all duff, but with big driver as buzz bar they glowed. I also took buzz bar off car and tryed each in turn on it and they worked. But put them all back in car and it seems as if only one piston is firering and Ihave to keep key turned till they all fire up.
Once the car has been running she starts again no trouble at all, but I still need to us glow plugs, but then I aways have had to do that she is old car
I have put on another relay and it made no difference. I have also checked for any air leaks...Any one got any Ideals please, Cheer, Pete

I had this with my Astra Van, turned out a couple of the injectors were getting old and were leaking when turned off. So, when you started it, it was basically clearing the flooded engine for a short while before trying to run properly.

I am starting to wonder..?... I might find out how much new injectors are as I will need new ones in the not so far of future as she is an old motor. You might be right as from what I have done I cannot see it is the heater plugs. This morning I pot another (this is the third one now) control box on that dose the timing for the injector, still the same, so, yes I think you might be right. Thanks for the coment Cheers, Pete

 

Check that the main glow plug fuse hasn't blown(big red one) located near the battery

 

The last time I tryed the plugs on the car they were getting power, but with all the messing around I have not tested on the car lately. I will look for the fuse, I think I have seen a big flat one by the battery, I will check it out, Thanks I will let you know how it checks out. cheers Pete
