Angry brake problem please help

ive got a cosworth powered focus that ive had about 6 months i love it but now the brakes are working themselfs
now they work just fine as soon as you get in the car but after a couple of miles the pedal goes to the floor if you pump it it comes back then goes again(not any fun for me or my girlfriend). next time you use the car same again
the car runs a cossie master cylinder but uses the abs pump as a servo(thats what i was told) the exhaust manifold is close to the brake fluid i know this is not ideal but they have worked for 6 month(ive been meaning to wrap them)
please please please help me as she wants rid as they failed on her on the a1 on friday

thanks guys maca

Sounds like the master cylinder has taken to much heat and the seal has gone. Is this car white ?

I am the lad who did your head gasket at the garage mate. I would be changing the master cylinder on it mate because where the turbo sits it is close to the master and the heat from the turbo has prob melted the seal in it. When you swap it over for a new one make sure you do something about stopping the heat from doing it again and if you get stuck just give us a call at the garage mate and i will try and make a plate for you.

How the hell can radiant heat from a turbo melt the seal in a MC 6" away?

I agree that components do suffer - wiring, uj's etc but to say that a seal in a large metal housing surrounded by fluid had been melted is BS!.

I would say that the seals a fooked due to age and replace them - no scare mongering due to a Focuus with a YB in it.
