Default ST 2.5 oil temperature

My 225 ST's oil temperature is going up high when driving it hard.
At normal driving the temp is good

Can anyone give some suggestions why this is happening, I presume the oil cooler is failing.

Thank you for your comments.

Judging by where you live then air temperatures are higher, then the radiator is going to be working harder, as the oil cooler is fed from the radiator. 2 choices. Either fit a higher capacity radiator or an RS oil cooler, which is bigger.

I'd recommend an RS oil cooler, got one on mine and they do make a difference.

Thanks for the comments.

It was working fine before. Driving like I stole it, both Oil and water temps were fine.
Now when driving hard for for about 5 - 10 mins the oil temp starts to rise quickly then the water temp starts to go up.

I will change the oil cooler and let you guys know how it worked.

Cheers!

I know this sounds silly but I use the wrong oil, the higher grade in my st 2, the reason being is that its thicker and takes longer to break down, so basically I can drive longer and harder without having to put more oil in all the time. When the car went for a service at fords they even said its runs like new for an ST with 115,000 on the clock.

What grade do you use? Don't use anything other than 5w-30 or if it is moderately modified then 0w-40.

I'd be more inclinded to fit a proper oil cooler, as it's not a great deal more than a std RS cooler.

Yeah 0w-40 is what I use, it does make a noticeable bit of difference.
