My 2006 Fiesta Zetec s
i bought a Fiesta zetec s back in January to be used as my everyday car and i do about 200 miles a week in it. i have a few plans for it and thought id post as i go.
this is how it looked the moment i got it home.

first thing i had to do was fill in that tow eye hole in the front bumper. turned out they are hard to find second hand so i bought it new from ford.
from this:

to this:

the car when i bought it was running on the motorways at about 35MPG which i decided was pretty rubbish considering i bought it with a service just done... or so thats what i was told. all it took was a quick look at the air filter to realise all they did was a oil change.
take a look at the difference

i also changed the spark plugs while i had the airbox off. after that the car was doing the same journeys on the motorway but managing 40-41MPG. much better.
got a pay rise and the breaks needed doing so i decided to purchase myself a treat.

fitted them in the morning and they stop the car.
then the car hit 74000 miles... and thats when the problems started.
first thing to go wrong was the ignition coil. started misfiring and then stopped working one day. so i bought a new one

then i ran my tank dry and clogged the fuel filter so had to replace that as well.
old
new
and my latest issue is my O2 sensor if failing causing me to have major losses in power and also means im only getting 200 miles to a tank. i have the part and will be fitting it next weekend when the special socket arrives.

decided to start work on changing my wing mirrors today. i liked the idea of having the body coloured wing mirrors. they looked like this, bit white where the previous owner thought putting polish on them was a good idea.

i gave them a bit of a rub down and primed them.

they're sitting in the garage now drying off and ill give them a few coats of panther black tomorrow.

ok so havnt done an update in a really long time. as an apprentice with two homes i have very little money to spend on the car unfortunately, but i look after it in the hope one day ill have some spare cash.
firstly the old tyres were worn out after 42000 miles so i treated the fezza to a brand new set of Continental premium contact sport 3s and i must say they are great. in the wet they still fill you with confidence when breaking. so heres a shot of the new boots.
Then during those dark months i spent most sundays driving in the dark so i decided to put in some LED numberplate bulbs

and in this brilliant weather we are having at the moment i decided to give her some proper tlc and remove all that winter grime and give her the shine she deserved.
