Default Remote Oil Filter Help

Fitting a remote oil filter setup on the 3dr as space is tight and also it makes changing the filter easier. Ive ordered the remote housing and the take off plate but a couple of questions have come up,

1, Does it matter at what height you mount the filter? Ie if you mount it to high will it drain out etc?

2, Is -10 hose a big enough bore?

Thanks in advance

-10 Hose is fine for the oil lines

It does not matter where you mount it as the oil system is pressurised, I'd keep it
Low and in the clearest area you can though to make changing the filter easier, and out of harms way,

Also make sure you plumb the feed and return the correct way in the remote housing,

Just mounted mine a while back, not done the lines yet though

Also if you have a Mocal one then port it as the internal detail is not the best , pace ones are good , and I will have my own ones on the Market soon , also use swept fittings rather than compacts

Swept fitting are the ones fitted to my 3 Door as above.
My remote oil filter housing is one from Torques which I can highly recommend.

I have heard that the Pinto / YB like to have their coolers mounted upside down. It was explained that it works better with the natural pulses from the oil pump.

Now, this came from a very experienced YB engine builder on another forum. I don't want to sound like the obligatory pub talker putting in his 2p worth - was a genuine comment at the time from the guy.

Maybe someone can confirm / deny this?

Just spotted Rich has done it lol

All pumps pulse that all to do with how many lobes/teeth on the pumps inner and outter rotars, as for the mounting of a oil cooler , you want the oil to use all of the cooler , and having a bigger cooler does not always mean it will cool better , in some installs 2 small ones work better

Just mount the filter in such a way oil wont pish everywhere when you go to change it ! lol

Not like some numpties who mount the bloody filters upside down. Almost all filters have anti-drain back valves in them anyway so during normal operation they will be fine.

And as mentioned ensure you get the flow path through the filter correct. Not all housings are the same.

Thats part of the reason im moving it so it doesnt piss oil down the side of the block and the steering rack etc

Just checked and all the fitting ive got are swept ones from torques or merlin motorsport,

not sure if any of what you said is true but the reason most people fit the cooler upside down is when they change there oil it will drain down by it self if it was up the other way you would have to take the cooler off every time to empty it every time you change the oil to drain the cooler .
