FAO anyone at MSD or other ECU techs
Im working on a friends golf 1.8t,
The 02 sensor wires were ripped out and I believe they shorted out. They got caught on something my friend drove over.
The car runs a flyby wire system, now from my understanding the 2 grounds on the throttle pedal are on the same driver in the ECU as the 02 sensors grounds.
I believe this driver/part of the ECU has been fried by the 02 sensor wires shorting out.
If I take the ECU cover off will I be able to visually see if its fried?
If it is fired can it be repaired?
If it can't be repaired is there a way to transfere the MAP from the ECU to a 2nd hand unit and can it be coded off the car or some sort of immobiliser defeat done.
Its a standard VW ECU and the golf has an AUM engine
Many thanks in advance

Is it a standard or chipped ecu? I can swap and recode the immobiliser to the ecu for you for cheap if you buy another ecu. As for the map I may possibly be able to transfer that too if the old ecu can still be interfaced with
The car still runs, I used VCDS on it today so it can still be interfaced.
The car has a Stage 1 map, That's why I want that transferred over as well.
As far as I'm aware its the driver that the 02 sensor grounds and the throttle pedal grounds that has burnt out..
Would you be able to put the map on the new unit?
I will take the cover off the ECU tomorrow and have a look, see if I can see.
I'm pretty sure it was flashed.
Pm me a price for the work and I'll relay it to my mate.
We still need to source an ECU so I guess it will be a week or 2

I crudely got the pedal to work today by adding direct ground wires to the sensors on the pedal so I can now confirm it it the ECU that is damaged, Rhino I'll be in touch when I get a spare ECU
