Default FAO anyone at MSD or other ECU techs

Im working on a friends golf 1.8t,

The 02 sensor wires were ripped out and I believe they shorted out. They got caught on something my friend drove over.
The car runs a flyby wire system, now from my understanding the 2 grounds on the throttle pedal are on the same driver in the ECU as the 02 sensors grounds.
I believe this driver/part of the ECU has been fried by the 02 sensor wires shorting out.

If I take the ECU cover off will I be able to visually see if its fried?

If it is fired can it be repaired?
If it can't be repaired is there a way to transfere the MAP from the ECU to a 2nd hand unit and can it be coded off the car or some sort of immobiliser defeat done.

Its a standard VW ECU and the golf has an AUM engine

Many thanks in advance
