Right we've got some perspex sheet shaped and cut to fit the ibiza doors, just need some help on what handles we could use to actually open the door rather then just pulling the cable?

It's a cable from door mechanism at the moment with a metal hook which you pull to open.

 

If the sheets reinforced where the original handle should be then just use that?
If not, bit of an old seat belt fixed to the cable somehow?
