I am looking to get a new engine in my 2004 fiesta when i have the money i was thinking of a nice 1.6 turbo but i really don't know much about engines ect.

 

Well there's no point thinking 1.6 turbo as it would cost you a fortune to do that

Standard 1.6 conversion will run you about 600-800
A 1.6 turbo will cost you around 5000+
A st 150 conversion will cost you roughly between 1500-2500
A st 150 conversion with either a turbo or supercharger will cost you 5000+

 

if it was me, id go with ST150 conversion, all the parts are already there to convert it, and its a better base to start from, loads of off the shelf upgrades, and 200bhp plus NA is easily acheivable. To get 200bhp plus out of a 1.6 turbo will cost a fair bit, and generally wont be as reliable as the 2.0

thanks guys i will probably go for the standard 1.6 conversion, this wont be for another year probably as i am 17 and only been driving for 3 months and i understand that you need to learn to walk before you can run. Also the st 150 has a 2.0L engine and insurance will most probably be high on that

 

I'm 26 and a 1.6 is crippling on my insurance

 

my mate is 19 and he has a 1.6 golf and is only paying £900 for insurance, im sure a 1.6 fiesta wouldnt be much more
