Wondering if this happens to you and if not should I be worried.

Iv just been out in the car and its just got up to temperature, its raining lightly, iv come to a stop and notice stream coming off the bonnet, should the bonnet be getting that hot to turn the water to stream or is there something amiss?

what was the weather like before it started raining? Sure the bonnet hasn't just soaked up some heat from the sun?

what car is this in?
my xr2 does this, but my tubular manifold isn't far from bonnet and that tends to heat rain quite easily, no heat protection though.

all my cars have done this, nothing to be worried about if it's the actual heat from the engine bay steaming the water

you need to be worried when the steam starts to erupt from under the bonnet

Do you have the cover on the underside of the car? could be water hitting the engine/sump and steaming up and coming up through the bonnet

2l mk1 focus does it too. noting to be worried about so long as you have no leaks.

My first mk6 escort used to do it, that was nothing hot, just a 1.6 zetec in perfect health and it was a silver so not exactly heat-absorbing colour. Used to sit in traffic on the way to college watching it steam in the rain haha

Glad its nothing to worry about then. Yeah I was in traffic last night thinking glad its just steam from the bonnet and nothing else. Mine is that sort of green colour that also looks blue in some light lol
