Has anyone had any experience using these? I know they can be quite expensive £300-£400. Do they require any changes to the existing charging system?
A lithium battery requires very careful management of the charging current and voltage as well as the discharge current and how low the voltage can go. Overcharging is very likely to cause an explosion. If the voltage drops too low the battery will be shot. Using one in place of a regular car battery would require a specialist controller, I think the cost would severely outweigh any potential benefits.

I use them for airsoft, so i know about the charging/discharging issues, that's what got me wondering about using them as a car battery?
They seem like a good idea, but i'd like to know how easy it is to actually use them.

Finding a square post one is getting very difficult and apparantly the square to round post adaptors have caused a few shorts/fires on Cosworths. Was talking to a guy and he said that alot of mk1/mk2 escort men where atarting to use these lithium jobs.
