Default Zetec turbo. which turbo???

Ive almost finished my zetec turbo build in my series 2 escort. im going to run it with the bits i have at the moment for this year then next year i would like bigger power figure. my basic spec so far:

Silvertop 2.0 zetec,
Forged Wossner pistons and PEC rods,
Ported and polished head with 3 angle valve seats (standard cams) Pug 106 gti valve springs,
Rover Turbo inlet manifold and throttle body,
Rover blue band 460cc injectors,
Focus RS exhaust manifold and standard focus gt25 turbo,
Omex 600 ecu
MTX75 Focus RS Gearbox
alloy rad,
front mount intercooler
oil cooler

hoping for around 280bhp when i finish this.

When i do go for more power i would like to get a tubular manifold and have the turbo located above the gearbox?

i would like to see around the 400bhp mark. What other mods do people recommend i do? (Bosch 044 pump is 1st on the list)

and i was thinking a gt28 turbo? but im new to this game so any advise would be much apritiated! thanks in advance!

Tom

You defo want a good fuel pump, even with your current spec mate, as for turbo depends on your budget? T38 for cheap and reliable power, but alittle lag, gt30 for more money less lag, gt28 would be good for fast spooling but 380-400 max,

Ahh ok mate, thanks. Il get on the case with the fuel pump this week. Yeah 380 would be fine, dont really want to push the oil pump much more than that do i? And think i would rather have the fast spooling option too. Any idea where to get the turbo from when i do bite the bullet? Owen Developments build my friends race cars, might give them a go?

Thanks a lot mate.

Not sure on best prices mate? Cr or tt seem to get a lot of votes! You will need to pick the right spec 28, 28/60 28/71 then r or rs and so on! As for the ex mani, the man to speak to is above, Gary aka crazycage.

make your mind up whether you want 280 or 400bhp, turbo choice would be a big thing between the two.
for 300bhp i'd just get a gt28rs, they're good for around 320bhp.
for 400 i'd look at a gtx2876r or a gt3071r, both low lag units,m although the 30 has more potential and lower temps.
t38 would be too big to get good response for 280 horses, would be about right to have the lag they produce for 400bhp though. consider a t34 if you want to save some coin, a 4wd cosworth turbo could get you around the 280 marker for proper budget item until you go further.
i have a gt3071r on mine on a 0.63 housing on my forged 2.1 zetec turbo, goes well and spooling well at 3500rpm.

Thanks very much for the advise people. Apart from the turbo and ex manifold, would i need to add anything else to my spec to reach the 350 - 380 mark? Not sure if i should run it at 280 for a while or just bite the bullet and get the extra 100 bhp straight away?!

Wow! After seeing those, i see what you mean! Crazycage- does this look any good to you?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271041636435

If not, i take it you make your own manifolds? How much roughly would i be looking at for one? And i would also be taking advise from you 2 on the turbo too. Cheers
