Default Track day tyres

Right, i know some track day tyres come with only 4-5mm tread from new.

if i was to buy a set at what point would i need to throw them away, assuming i keep them on a spare set of wheels so i dont need to drive them on the road.

have found a set for sale yokohama A048 but they only have 3.5mm and i was wondering whether it is worth getting them S/H?

car is a mk1 FRS and i want to use them for a couple of track days a year.

or would i be better off just compromising with some AD08 and get the full 8mm tread and use them all year round?

cheers

Had the ADO8 on my kit car, good tyre with low wear rate. Used on track and road and where good. HAve the A048 on my BMW track car and their excellent, only really use them for a intermitate tyre but been good.

If you have a spare set of wheels it would be an idea to get the AD08 as an every day tyre and then Slicks as your track tyres. Can use the ADO8 if it rains and slicks when its dry. Slicks give you so much grip and are cheaper if you buy slightly used. On an RS would be brilliant.
